Charter of Values and Statment of Principles

At the Ice Academy of Montreal (“I.AM”), we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants. Our principles and values are designed to ensure that every individual feels valued and supported, regardless of their background or identity. By upholding these values, we aim to foster a positive and enriching experience for everyone involved in our activities.

Our Three Core Principles

Accepting

We embrace every participant of the community, irrespective of their race, color, sex, sexual orientation, language, religion, political or other opinions, national or social origin, property, birth, or other status. I.AM expects the same level of acceptance from each and every member of the community.

I.AM Not Discriminating

We do not discriminate against any participant of the community based on their race, color, sex, sexual orientation, language, religion, political or other opinions, national or social origin, property, birth, or other status. I.AM does not tolerate and is committed to acting diligently to address any form of discrimination.

I.AM
Safe

We cultivate a safe environment for athletes to train, coaches to teach, and staff to work. I.AM does not tolerate and is committed to acting diligently to address any form of bullying, hazing, or physical or psychological abuse by any member of the community, contractor, or supplier.

Our Commitment to Safe Sport

We uphold the values of respect and dignity for all participants of our community. We are committed to creating an environment where everyone is treated with fairness and respect, regardless of their ethnicity, gender, or background. We expect the same level of acceptance from each and every participant of our community.

The safety and well-being of our athletes, coaches, and staff are our top priorities. We do not tolerate any form of misconduct, including maltreatment, abuse, bullying, harassment and intimidation. We take immediate action against any such behavior to ensure a safe environment for all.

We embrace diversity and inclusivity, ensuring that all participants of our community feel welcomed and valued. Our community thrives on mutual respect, and we do not tolerate and will take action against any form of discrimination, whether based on race, color, sex, sexual orientation, language, religion, political or other opinions, national or social origin, property, birth or other prohibited grounds.

What We Do to Support Our Vision

In support of this vision and core values and principles, we are dedicated to raising awareness and providing education on safe sport issues.   We inform and encourage all participants to consult training and educational resources and materials  to help them recognize, prevent, and address misconduct and maltreatment in sport, namely:

All participants to I.AM activities are required to comply at all times with applicable training requirements and policies regarding safe sport, namely at the local, provincial and national level.

We work collaboratively with athletes, coaches, staff, and other stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and accountability. We encourage open communication and ensure that all voices are heard and respected. We provide comprehensive support to all participants so that they are well-accompanied and supported if they wish to file a report or seek help or support.

Annually, I.AM will conduct satisfaction surveys to gather feedback and suggestions from participants. We strongly encourage everyone’s participation, as the feedback obtained will be essential in contributing to the efforts made to create an even more welcoming and inclusive environment for all.

By adhering to these principles, I.AM aims to create a positive and supportive environment where everyone can enjoy the sport of skating while feeling safe and respected.
